Planning to head to Matagorda in two weeks. Is the beach covered up with grass?

(Posted in Open SW and got no replies.)

Hope to put the kids on a few fish and don't want to pay the fuel to haul the boat down...

if you are willing to wade, there is a whole system of roads that lead to south shore of east bay. when i have no dinero for fuel for the boat thats where i go... in the summer it can be a hit or miss thing but when the fish are there, they stack up well. you have grass, reef, mud, and hard bottom with shell options over there. south shore is a favorite spot of mine so i might have a little bias. i havent had a look at the beach for a few weeks so im not sure if its still covered up, but if i had to guess id say its still pretty messy. it was baaad last time i ventured out there. im probably headed down next weekend lookin for a good sunburn and maybe a fish or two if i mess that up haha. if you are a regular matty guy im sure you know all of this info, but hope it helps! good luck buddy! and leave some fish for me

i wish there was a reel in my hands... but im stuck with a keyboard under my fingers.

Thanks HeadsorTails. I've only been there a hand full of times but love it. I've looked at those roads / trails on google maps before but have been chicken to try and head back there by myself. Afraid I'd get stuck somewhere with no one to pull me out. I've got a big Dodge 4x4 but still don't want to get the family stranded. You going for the weekend or just for a day or what? I might follow you back in if you don't mind giving up a couple spots...

The beach is worse than the roads...lock her in 4-H and go adventuring.
