WHEN WE WERE CATCHING THE KINGS WE WERE TIED UP TO A OIL RIG ABOUT 13 MILES OUT. WE WERE CATCHING THEM ON SHAD AND WE WERE ALSO THROWING A SLAB THAT WE USE FOR STRIPPERS(FRESHWATER). WHEN YOU WERE REELING THE SLAB IN THEY WOULD HIT IT LIKE A TRUCK AND START STRIPPING OFF LINE . WE WERE USING PRETTY LIGHT TACKLE. WE CAUGHT THE SPANISH MARLIN IN ABOUT 19 FEET OF WATER WITH THE SLABS.

Hey Yall: Strippers?? I think the Lad ment Stripers and a Slab is a Spoon made of lead. They're flat and flutter from side to side when free falling to the bottom. They are usually 1 to 2 1/2oz and 3 1/2" to 4" long. They're bigger at the bottom end where the hook is and smaller in width at the line tie on the forward end. Look in the fresh water section at Bass Pro Shops in the Striper Lures section.

I would recommend chrome or white if it's sunny and chartruse if it's cloudy.

Good Luck and Slab Them Kings Yall!
