I used 3m restorer and wax on an old boat once. It worked really well. You do have to use a lot of elbow grease, but it worked for me.

There is a post on here some where about wet sanding. If I remember the before and after looked great.
Good luck! Doug

Good oxidation remover and wax. You can get both from any marine retailer. I would recommend an electric buffer. Don't ask me how I know!

Only thing I can tell you is whatever route you decide to go be prepared for a long project, its hard work getting rid of the oxidation on the boat.

wetsanding is the way to go for the long run, you can put a lot of coats of a good wax/restorer and that will help it look better but it wont last as long as wetsanding, start with around 100 grit, then 1500, then 2000.......apply compound, polish and a good wax, definitly a looooong project

Dont you mean 1000 grit instead of 100.

Check out the Shurhold website. Used the 3-step process on a 99' Cobalt with great results. Using the buffer is necessary to get great results.

i used steel wool on my boat.. rubbed the boat down and it turned into a white haze.. scared the heck out of me until I put the wax on whew! only hit it once with the steel wool. then after about the 3rd coat of wax over a month period, it seems to stay looking "shiny and wet". I was pretty happy.
