I was taking two customer to the lake this afternoon until we got rearended on 380 east of 75 by a Dodge Durange. We were at a red light and then Bam...Weekend ruined.

The motor is just hanging on by the trim and it broke up big time. The boat shot forward a foot and broke the tie down arm on the trailer.

My question is, how will the insurance company be able to guarantee the transom and the hull is ok? I am worried they will fix the motor and trailer and tell me I'm good.

I would not want to continue with that boat. It is unfortunate but I think it looks bad for the transom from this point forward. I doubt if they're built to withstand much shock from a rearend collision. It's not very likely your transom is unaffected

Wonder how they will determine the value? It is a 2000 and does not have a scratch on it until now. Always stored inside. I have HDS 10 and HDS 8, power pole, fortrex, SS, Drop introlling motor tray. It is spotless.

I have one friend had the same thing happen to his Ranger z20 rear ended, another hit a stump in Rayburn in his Skeeter. The first guy didn't have the best insurance, the second guy did. Both got the boat fixed to a satisfactory condition. But one had to dish out some money, make sure your insurance covers everything.

Karp... It was their fault. I would hope their insurance should take care of this. We will see. My insurance is with Karen at Statefarm she is excelent.

Karen will take care of it. Give her all the information and sick her on them. Tell her you want it fix at the best place you can find. I would have that someone take everything out of the back of the boat and crawl in there to inspect every inch; especially in the corners. It will be hard to tell because of that thin layer of junk they spray over the fiberglass and foam to make it look finished. Most of that stuff has cracks and flaking off even on new boats.

Now if I am stuck with a fixed boat...who would want to buy a boat that's been in a wreck. It will really hurt the resale. Hopefully they buy it.

I had one years ago that the insurance company told me they were going to take care of me. I wound up getting a lawyer to get me a new boat. Brand new Skeeter only 4 days old when a guy ran a stop sign and broadsided the boat and trailer. Was less than $500 bucks difference to buy me a new boat and trailer but, they were wanting to fix all of it. As I stated, wound up getting a lawyer!

don't forget diminished value, even if it is fixed 100% you will never be able to sell it for the same.
