Take a Golf Towel that has the clip ring to keep your hands clean when fishing Chunk Baits. Slimey hands make it hard to grip your rod and reel handles.

You can clip it to your belt loop or hang it on the rail in front of where you are chunk fishing.

Last year on the Quatro Trip we got some nice ones from the Ande Line Co. that came in real handy! flehan

#1 Bring Rubber Boots or your feet will be wet the entire trip. Guaranteed. Also the finest Offshore Slicker Suit you can afford.
#2 Bring top of Line Sunscreen.
#3 If it is hot and you sweat a lot keep your Salt level up. This helps prevent Cramping Muscles.
#4 Your Magaritas may be fun but you can drink them 365 days a year at home. You don't get a fishing trip like this one everyday. No offence Mo.
#5 You will not have to mark your fish in any way on this boat. You will be given a clip full of #s which will all be the same. No 2 people have duplicate numbers. Each fish that you want to keep you hand the deckhand one of your #,s and it will be stapled to the fish. Two for YFT.
#6 If you catch your limit keep fishing for those less fortunate. If you catch more than your limit you will give up the overage at the dock. You will be allowed to pick your largest fish from your batch of YFT if you choose. The remainder go into the general pot.
#7 If the YFT's are on release as many BFT's as humanly possible. Don't waste the deckhands time calling for Gaff when you can hand line them into the boat, remove your hooks, and release. If you catch a bigger BFT ask the deck hand to bleed the fish when you hand him one of your numbers.
#8 There are some experienced hands on thei trip. Try to get all the answers now and on the way out. When the bite starts the experienced ones will want to be fishing.
#8 Learn your knots now and on the way out. Practice them or you will be very unhappy when you can't get a bait in the water during a major bite.
#9 If you plan to be jigging you better have your line marked in 50-100 foot increments and have jigs ranging from 4-16 OZ.

rule#1 if your fishing next to drshark be fast on your feet and look in all directions for flying hooks.
#2 DON'T GRAB A YELLOWFIN BY ITS TAIL TO TRY AND SUBDUE IT.
#3 this is not a my trip. tuna trips are about helping each other. if your the lucky one hooked up the rest of the team needs to do all in their power to see that tuna gets landed. however if your fishing to lite of gear to put pressure on your fish then don't expect a lot of folks to feel sorry for you or get out of your way while your fish runs you all over the boat.
4. try and get some sleep if at all possible. sleep deprivation will lead to bad decisions and lost fish.....rick

I understand most of the spare gear will be
stored uptop. What tips do you have to limit
trips up and down the stair ? Is there room
for a small bag of extra poppers and jigs downstairs?
Thanks
Mo

Guys,

Something I'll share is that if you like taking photos, especially action or "just caught" type of photos, you'll want to keep your camera outside.

If you keep it inside the cabin and run in to get it, you'll have about a 10 minute wait for it to un-fog from the temperature change. Keeping it in a gear bag upstairs and out of the cold cabin will keep it ready for use at all times.

DeepBlueGulf is absolutely correct on the camera issue

MoJo, There are benches outside on both the the Port and Starboard side of the Big E. Tackle can be placed under these to save trips up and down the stairs. Small bag should have Hooks, ballbearing swivels, and Floro for rerigging while Chunking. Poppers and barrell swivels for Top Water. Jigs and floro for jigging.
