I don't want to be a PITA, but I just wanted to remind everyone that enjoys the margaritas on the Cinco trip...(I may have one or two myself)...that it can be very dangerous on the boat if people are not at their most alert state when the fishing is hot. Two people were injured on our last trip...and that was with total sobriety.
If you plan on having some margaritas...do yourself and everyone on board a favor. Do not enter the back of the boat area or anywhere near the casting of poppers if you're not 100 percent. The lack of sleep coupled with a few margaritas may create a mix with bad results.
We all want to have a great time on the Cinco and after hearing about a couple of unfortunate injuries on the TBB, when there was no alcohol involved, I, (as well as others from the trip), became worried about the possibilities of more serious injuries from the margaritas. Don't get me wrong...I'm gonna have a couple of beers and/or margaritas after fishing ... while traveling ... but just wanted to let everyone know that we need to be very careful when we are fishing hard and the bite is hot. I just want everyone to be safe and have a great fishing trip.
Thanks guys...this is going to be one heck of a trip!

Personaly i wouldnt even allow alcohol on the boat. Im not a temperance worker or anything, i enjoy a good glass of whiskey as much as the next guy, but knives, large hook, big powerful fish and a crowded boat a hundred miles offshore is a recipe to get someone messed up badly when you throw alcohol on it.

It all comes down to being an adult and having responsibilities. Margarita's or not, someone that wants to drink, will drink regardless. Safety is very important, but being responsible is the key here. On my 52 hr trip, I only slept 1.5 hrs the whole time and had a beer in my hand if I was awake. Txgrizzly can attest to the fact that I continued to be a safe fisherman while having a good time. If you can't handle drinking, don't do it. As Capt frank will mention, one drunk will ruin the whole trip. If you get out of line, you will have 45 people on your arse and along way to swim home. I am sure everyone will act accordingly and this will be a non-issue, but well worth bringing up.
regards, Joe

Dang Worry Warts We've had beer and spirits aboard every trip I've made and we have yet to have it become a problem. Most folks only drink right before bed and on the way back in after the fishing is done. We'll bring a big roll of Duct Tape and some Big Tywraps. There are some poles to lash them to if anyone gets out of hand... We also reserve the right to use them for Mako Bait whichever comes first! PS: Aggies are like the Tooth Fairy.. kids dig 'em both ...but Most of us out grow fantisy football as we get older. Hook'em Horns :p Bazz

Richard, don't worry bout me, I only drink Crown. No offense MJ. I just hate heart burn. Everyone use caution. Drink lots of fluid and keep the salt content in your body up if you sweat a lot as I do when fishing really hard. Drink the proper fluids, not ****. Doc

You don't need deodorant for Vance, you need a water hose! He'll be covered in tuna blood in no time! It'll be a wicked pace he sets and everyone will have to try to keep up!!

Hey, that's right.
It was the Big E Halloween trip last year when Dr. Shark joined the trip at the last minute with hopes of landing his first YFT. I don't really remember if he got one on that trip, but I do know that since then he has been sharing his many years of YFT catching experience with anyone that needs help.
I've been fishing Yellowfin Tuna on the partyboats for six years and never new I was doing it wrong until the shark pointed it out. Since then, I've disqualified all my past catches that I thought were "good" catches, burning the pictures and giving away the steaks that were still left in the deep freeze. If I don't catch it Shark's way, well, it just doesn't count with me anymore and I'm man enough to admit it. Heck I really haven't caught a YFT the right way in over a year, maybe ever, and yep, I'm man enough to admit it.
I still tuna fish on occasion, but all my catches are dull, and less fulfilling than ever. The pictures, well, I just don't take them anymore. And the steaks, well, I just give em' away cause I don't know how to make heifer dust.
While I still gotta go tuna fishing, cause i'm paid up on the trips, I just dream of mullet fishing in the shallow muddy bays nowadays. That's the real last frontier of fishing adventure, and is what the future of internet fishing will be all about. I'll post the pictures when I get em'. See you guys in a little over a week!
Now where are them waders...

there are not many people that have been fishing for gulf tuna and catching them on a regular basis. with the advent of the deep water spars it gave the tuna's a place to congregate so us idiot fishermen could find them on a more regular basis.
gentlemen give drshark the credit he deserves. he doesn't do anything half way. he has jumped in with both feet and running full speed ahead. he has soaked up more about tuna fishing in his measely 1 year than most of us that have fished for tuna a lot longer. furthermore he is more than willing to help any of the rookies out with any of their issues. as much as he has the ability to piss people off he is still an asset to the boards he visits and the trips he fishes on......rick
