Wednesday my front fish finder went out on me, a Lowrance X47. It has been on the blink for awhile, but now it is shot. What would you guys recommend for a replacement? I would like to stay with Lowrance since I have a X85 on the dash. Or, I was thinking about putting the X85 up front and getting a new one for the dash. Keep suggestions and prices within reason. I would love to have the latest and greatest color GPS and mapping, but two G's is a little high for me. Might be able to swing a grand if I promise this is my Christmas present until '07. Thanks

You might check with Lowrance. I have heard of people getting trade-in on old or broken units. I have a X-125 that I'm very pleased with.
hope this helps

Chris, I believe cjm is right. If Lowrance no longer services your unit they will give you a trade-in voucher to take to the dealer. I think you have to ship your old one in first. Hmmmm .... reckon BPS would take the 20% off coupon out of the 2004 Hunting Fishing Guide then also accept the voucher from Lowrance? Just got my 2004-2005 license today and first quick look through the guide didn't reveal a coupon this year.

Chris, if you're looking the $1000 range and want color, have a look at the X-18. I had one on my old boat and I miss it more than I do the Nitro it was on. I think you can get it around $1100 with GPS from BPS without the coupon ($900 with). Here's Lowrance's link to it so you can see it yourself: http://www.lowrance.com/Marine/Products/LCX-18C.asp I'd mount this one on the dash for sure and move your X-85 up front. I don't know if Lowrance will give you the trade-up option they were offering this year, but it wouldn't hurt to call them to see. The X-47 is still being made, so I know they won't do a "non-repairable, non-replaceable" voucher for you, but they were offering people the option of trading UP and getting a bit of a discount. And Champ, no, they lost their shirts on that coupon this year so it won't be back.

Chris, if you are on a budget, try the LMS 480. It is a 4000 watt, 480 verticle pixel unit with GPS. I am on the Lowrance prostaff and I love mine. I think it retails for 549.00.

I have the LC X15 MT W/GPS. Whole setup around 1K. It's the best thing I have ever done to my boat besides fish from it.

My vote goes with the LC-X15 MT. I have one on the console (not with GPS option because I have handheld). Cost me $599, and it was worth every penny.
