Sickle hook jigheads are all I use. The hooks are sharper and are very durable. I even make my own.

if you bend them a couple times after getting them out of brush, they weaken, and you can lose a big fish, I lost a sow on belton tournament moning that straightened the hook, if I had a eagle claw, round bend, I dont think I would have lost her. They are the sharpest hooks in the industry, but not the strongest, a vee will never be stronger than a U. With that being said, I find if I use 10 lb line, I can recover alot of sickle hook style jigs, that would be lost in a brushpile, for the simple fact that they will bend instead of break. So its a double edge sword. The fish I lost with the sickle, she was so big, when I set the hook, the braided line cut into my finger, I got her to the surface, said.. GEEZ look at her, then she gave me the wavy tail salute, and got off, when I looked at the hook, and saw it partially straightened, I learned a valuable lesson that morning. No more sickles in tourneys for me, but for everyday fishing, I will surely use them.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I buy the hooks, but I melt down lead and mold my own jigheads.
