I think it is great that Fork is so awesome, pulls pressure off of Rayburn.

Why run to Rayburn when Fork is so close to Dallas? Heck with metro lakes so close, Fork would be that once in awhile "Dream come true" lake.

Coming from the desert any good bass lake is my dream come true. wink

Falcon in the early 90's might have been better than Fork's 'golden' age. It's just most people hadn't heard about it. Falcon has been great for a very very long time.

Charlie said he can count on one hand the number of days like that on Falcon.

I spent a lot of time in the boat with Mark Pack and Kelly Jordon fishing the heat of the day deep summer bite.

Falcon today is absolutely insane. For total numbers and best 5 weight per day, there is no other place like it in this world right now. Last Thursday we caught 118 fish in five hours with 41.50 on our big five. Best fish that day I caught on a LC D20 shallow and she weighed 9.88 lbs. But we also caught a ton of 1-3 pound fish. Probably 50 or more.

However, heyday for heyday, Fork still rules for average weight per fish in my book. I do agree that given another couple years, Falcon may actually best Fork in all categories other than SAL's. That is due to most SAL's caught at Falcon being released.

thats cause the SAL's are in gill nets

Dang, I suppose Fork is the one that should have the asterisk. It managed to dominate the record books in spite of not having the more than perfect conditions. Texas is a huge state and these two lakes are in two completely different leagues. Both very respectable though. I stand by my opinions and they should not be compared.

No it's not. There aren't that many big fish that get caught in the gill nets, some yes. But I know James at FLT was keeping track of known, confirmed fish over 13 at Falcon during the last SAL season. I think there were at least 9 or 10 caught and only three of those were donated. There have been several more caught and released since SAL ended that were 13 or better. James has a picture of one on the website from week before last.

Asterisk??? Do what? Why would it have an asterisk?

Is the asterisk because the lake is not only in Texas water and has water in Mexico? Fork is surrounded by Texas.
