Does anyone own one? I am looking at new boat and this one has my attention and is one heck of a deal. The only concern I have is with the package you can only get the 225 Pro XS , no ugrade to the 250 is offered. I was curious if anyone has a Puma Advantage and how she performs with the 225. Also if anyone has one any other feedback is appreciated.

Thanks!

This is a great boat with all the qualities that you will find in the other models minus " the bells and whistles". This boat will run 70-72 MPH all day long and will ride just as good as any of them. I have owned just about every model and have been impressed with all of them. I am sure you could set up a demo ride with someone in the area that has one...

I read about the deal (sounds pretty good)... My only concern would be resale... Boats tend to sell a little slower when the max HP isn't hung on the back.

The Puma Advantage is a Puma without the bells and whistles. It has the same deck layout as the "Premium" model Puma and carries the same hull as the Puma FTD and Cougar FTD. Therefore, the ride between all them (Puma Advantage, Cougar FTD, and Puma FTD) will all be about the same. I wouldn't be too concerned about the 225 hp limit on the Advantage model. It will likely push that hull between 72-76 depending on a number of variables. Prior to year 2007 the 225 was the standard engine size to have on a 20+ foot boat. The only 250 that could be had was the Merc Racing XS and the negative was that it only carried a one yr. warranty. As far as resale...........yes it may take a little longer since most think they need a 250. However, depreciation is the same across the board. Go by Rockwall Marine and visit with Tommy. Great reputation and great individual! Good luck with your search!

The 225XS should be pushing close to the same hp as the regular 250.

a buddy of mine has the Cougar with a 225 pro xs and that thing runs like a bat out of hell. That boat has made me change my mind on my next new one from stayin with Skeeter to now wanting a Cat.

Doug,
Phil is incredibly knowledgable about the Cat. I have the same hull with my Cougar FTD and the ride and fishability are great. Yes, you will loose a couple of mph, but at low to mid 70's with that hull it will be a good ride and hull shot should be good with a fury prop. Tommy and Rockwall Marine. A+++++
Let me know if you want to demo mine. Good luck
