Guys I have a friend of my 10 year old son that is fighting stage 4 neuroblastoma. This little boy loves to fish and is actually focusing on fishing as a pain management technique because his pain meds do not work during his cancer treatments. Anyway he is going through a treatment this week and me and my son will be taking him and his dad SB fishing next week. I'm a bass fisherman and need some tips on where to catch some sandies on RC.

Thanks,
Randy

right now they are schooling all over the lake.. if I were you (since the fish are not really on the "normal spots") i would just drive and drive and i promise you will see some schooling... but focusing your driving around... too points and humps on the main lake. dam area is good.

once you find them schooling throw a SMALL rattletrap or roostertail... or small top water.. they will hit all that.. also depending on your graph..look in the same area right around the schooling fish and there just might be some better bigger fish in the waiting.. in which case use a slab..bounce it off the bottom.

I should say though.. right now on RC is kinda hit and miss on the whites.. they are very scattered and it can be tough to find good fish. just so you know...

Randy,

It's actually got much easier to find and catch "School Fish" the past two days. Give me a call at 469-371-5197 the night before you fish and I'll give you the most current locations. Or just take a look at our website at www.gonefishin.biz as it's got locations and baits to use.

If you're fishing out of Fisherman's Point Marina, you're welcome to "Trail" me or my Son as we normally fish everyday except Sunday.

Good Luck!

Randy,
I would sure give Royce a call. Hope yall have a great time with the lad. Monday and Tuesday evenings were great catching afternoons. Not only schooling small fish easy to spot but we caught large sandies slabbing in 25-30' off the points in main lake.

Gracious offer, Royce.

Terry

Guys I really appreciate the help. I'm gonna be going out Friday evening with my son to try and find a few spots. Royce thank you so much for the offer, Ethan will be out of the hospital on Monday and then prob have a few days at home of rest and recovery. We were thinking about shooting for Saturday the 25th if he feels up for it. We would love to follow you guys in our boat, it would be great for Ethan to see how hard you fishing guides work. I'll give you a call and thanks again for the offer. This will make his week a little easier knowing he has a great fishing trip to look forward to.

Randy

tclay,

Only two recommendations I'd make is fish on a (1) Weekday & (2)Morning. We've called off all our Afternoon Trips due to the heat as it's just too Hot to be comfortable even though you'll catch fish the latter part of the day.

On a Weekday you might have a dozen boats on a 45,000 acre lake, while on a Saturday, you'll put a dozen boats in the three acre area where the fish are schooling and it really decreases the activity. With that said, we have both boats out for a 6:30AM start on Saturday, the 25th.

Tell the young man to get ready to catch some fish!

Thanks,

tclay,

Our prayers are with that little guy. I know that disease can be horribly painful. If by some chance your schedule doesn't work with royce please let us know. We will find a way to put you on the fish.

I know that night fishing on RC can be terrific around the private docks with lights. A friend of mine took me there one early am round 4 and we killed sandies till dawn. There were tons of bigger fish rolliing, but the wouldn't take our sexy shads.
In a side note, I will keep young Ethan on my thoughts and prayers as well. I'm sure he must be going through a great deal.
All of you who have replied and offered assistance, I commend you and know that God will bless you for your kindness.
My wife is a survivor of this very same cancer so I know God works miracles. Just pray and keep faith!
