Well, the blues have slowed down and the channels are easy these days but decided to head down to Port O'Connor for our yearly "fun run."

Cleared Pass Cavallo and was greeted w/ solid 5's with chop. Put the ole 24'er nose up and ran it. It was bumpy, but after the 3 hour run we finally got to our spot. We got broke off 8 times but Ed's 8/0 stainless circles worked perfect. Got our limit of federal snapper and then switched over to the fun fish. Nailed the kings and shark and overall had a ball.

Dad caught his personal best King of 49lbs and I got mine at 57lbs. WE also got a 22lb snapper and seveal in the teens.

Jeff, here is a pic for your website, lol...

I wil try to upload some video soon. Those first 30 seconds of drag stripping on those kings are incredible. After a few seconds I always hope they slow down...that power pro is expensive and everytime they hit I think i'm gonna get spooled.

We got totally spooled at the end of the day our last day. Fish hit...and never turned him. Took 200 yards of 80lb power pro in about 15 seconds. cry

Here is a pic of a red snapper that got bit off by a shark half way up...had the shark on for about 20 seconds, but he got off.

Nice fish Michael and it's either the sharks or baracuda cutting up good fish and super nice ones at that as they're brought up and to the boat. Seen that many times.

Sure miss offshore fishing, but I'll need to get in on an overnight tuna trip maybe next spring or summer.

great shots michael

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Makes July 2nd seem so far away. I'll be in Port A for a couple weeks.
