I went fishing to Calaveras lake about 2 months ago and had no luck for reds. I caught catfish but I really want to catch reds. I went last year around July and limited at the wall. But it seems like they're aren't as active as they usually are. Anyone have luck with reds?

I was there last friday and got didnt even get a bite. We were trying for reds and cats, tried shad and cj's stinkbait. One guy did catch three reds in front of us with downriggers.

Channels are biting good. Cliff of Hill Country Fishin caught over one hundred last night. Also the Reds are starting to pick up. Saw several being caught off of the wall and over by the intake. Big Marvs was used on the Cats. Small Gold and Silver colored spoons were used on the Reds. The Reds were in 15 feet of water. The cats were in between 4 to 9 feet of water.

thanks... we're going this saturday. I'll hit the wall first thing and if no luck we'll go off our fish finder and see what happens.

Any advice on where the reds were running in the water column (10-15 feet or down on bottom)? Thanks

My worst day fishing was better than my best day at work
