Got a 14 lb hanging on the wall in the restaurant from Hubbard. They are there-- just remember they have been radio tracked moving MANY miles in just one day. They are like a wolf pack on the move-- first thing is to find the bait fish -- the stripers will be along shortly -- (well maybe!)

the fish used to be in a bar,i've seen it .just by looking at it it looks like a striper.their was a lot of big striper in hubbard back then. i've been fishing bait out there since 1985 .my bigest hybrid is 14lbs,twice.my biggest stripers have been 19 lbs.with couple hundred over ten pounds.if i knew the picture thing i could show you guys .i personally think it was a striper by looking at the mount.

John Varner's father caught a huge hybrid off the bank many, many years ago. It filled a galvanized wash pan.
BIG stripers and hybrids basically become "loners" and cruise by themselves if not with a few of their own. If you are serious about catching a BIG hybrid on Ray Hubbard, you should concentrate on the timber stands along several of the levies in the lakes. These BIGGER fish lay in the timber wating on bait fish. Better have the right tackle/line/bait for doing that type of fishing. These fish are in there and live where it's almost impossible for you to land one.

No it's a hybrid had the right tooth patch and it's shaped like a football-- strips are broken -- the taxidermist painted some of them back on--
Anyway Hubbard has some big fish-- they stocked it with hybrids according to the Texas Parks back many years (not 2010) -- no report on 2011 yet. Those fish are now mature-- and getting bigger.
What is it ?? I forget-- they get about 12-14 inches in under 3 years-- or something like that?? The problem in Hubbard is that the sandbass fisherman many times take them "as sandbass" when they are small.

in the 80's there were some tackle busters out there. for some reason the state said no more stockings for that lake .now it is just hybs .i catch about two or three a year ,but i think they come from lavons stockings a few years back.

Jerry Mckinnis SP? did a show in the 80's sitting off 30 West/South drowning perch and caught several in the high teens.
Someone else may remember the particulars.

I've never seen the record fish other than in a picture. It does look like a stripe to me, but I will say this Hubbard has some monster hybrid in it. It may not have the population of big fish that other lakes afford, but Hubbard could easily hsve a record in it. Last year I got on a school of real good ones and a lady on my boat fought one right to the side of the boat and lost it. It was easily the biggest hybrid I have seen on any lake.
