Bringing a few of my coaching buddies out to Lake Tawakoni for a full day of fishing Wednesday. What boat ramps are closest to the south end of the lake? Isn't that the area most of the sandbass and hybrids are being caught with the deeper water? Also going to be thowing out a few juglines for the day for some catfish if they will cooperate too. Working towards catching enough for a good coaches fish-fry...

Thanks in advance for all replies...

Holiday is the closet to the south end but I use the State Park it's only a little drive down to the south end.

Get a good A.I.D. Lake Tawakoni map with the GPS Grid on it. Unfold it and take a ruler and ball point pen and immediately draw a line between Holiday Marina and Sunpoint across the lake from Holiday.

Then.....

DO NOT even think about crossing that line to the left unless you are well insured.

We came so close to hitting some major tree stumps in the middle of the lake yesterday. I marked all the perimeter timber areas on my GPS but my GPS wasnt working yesterday. My buddy eagle-eye FishZombie saved our lives yesterday!! angel

Ditto on the trees, we were on them before we knew it and we almost hit a group of trees.

Yep. I was there a week ago, Friday. My guide has been on Twak 12 years, so he knew the lake. I didn't know it's a rough as Fork when it comes to trees. Stay towards the Dam and out of trouble. Venture towards the upper end and be veeeeeery careful.

When you say "to the left" are you talking about toward the north?? Leaving from Holiday and looking left?

That spooks me because this time last year I hauled across pretty close to that and never thought about stumps. The water was up and nothing was visible.

I'm afraid we're in for a severe drought this summer. Already feels like late July

Yes don't even THINK ABOUT crossing the lake straight across!

However you are VERY nearby the Holiday Humps if you launch at Holiday, -- you can try there and then run down the dam and try the humps near the other end at Tall Man Reach-- then you can proceed to go to Sunpoint without worrying about hitting any trees.

As already said watch out for those shallow points.
