Yesterday, I got to try out the new SI. It works great. Good clear pictures. However, after I get up about 15 MPH it begins to throw up a rooster tail right at the transom.

Do you think I need to tilt the transducer back a little at the rear, or what?

Check the CD that came with it, I think they go over that. The CD without the manuals on it, I "think" it was to be tilted down, but.... I will look over my CD to make sure. Come to think of it, I might have seen that on one of Doug V. install videos.

I stand corrected, it must have been a utube video I watched.

Anyway, on the CD, Title 13 chapter2, it said "transducer should be 1/2"-1" below transom.

On the Utube video they said the transducer should be slightly tilted down in the rear. Hope that helps . If I can find the video I'll try to post the link.

A rooster tail and sounding should never be a problem by mounting a high speed transducer aft and up... and out of the "trough" where problems lurk....the rules have changed!

Found the little plug you all mentioned. I installed it and I am 99% sure that will take care of the problem. I am getting terrific pictures and the center line of my transducer is dead at the bottom of the boat.

I had no problems with the quality of pics, just that rooster tail at above 15 MPH.

Thanks for all the help.

And you didn't have to spend $120 for a special mount!
