Being born & raised in San Angelo, that lake was the focus of many many parties & fishing trips , campouts , makeouts .. dance2 .. The house where I was raised in wasn't to far to the right of the dam.....It did dry up in the early seventies & caught fire !!!! that's right --- the lake was on fire ......It was such a silly story that if I remember correctly, it made some kind of fickle award on the Rowan & Martin laugh-in show... many fond memories .. hate to see it so low ...

There's a you tube video of a dam that broke on a lake in Wisconsin. Emptied the entire lake in just a couple of hours.

Those lakes are going dry because they are sucking water out of them for other towns. I live in midland now and i see people watering there lawns like theres no tommrow. It has rained here in midland once since last july.

Three other lakes getting pretty close to the same condition,,,Spence, Thomas and Meredith. In the past I've caught some pretty good bass from Spence and Thomas.

There is some ghost town around Thomas. My brother found a no minimum bid silent action for two "lake" lots on Thomas. He bid on one lot and his BIL bid on the other. They won the bids and drove out to survey them. From the "lakeside" part of the property, there is no lake. The deed restrictions says he owns the property to the edge of the water. Right now that is a sizeable amount of land.

Waiting on Bob Davis' next selfie

How did the lake catch on fire?

Guess I missed something. What lake was on fire? A big fire was over at Lake Champion recently. Another lake that is going down quick.
