can sombody give me a ballpark number for how much a 27' travel trailer will weigh?

It should have a tag on it that says how much it weights empty and whats it maximum rated weight is.

It also varies greatly depending on age, the older ones are much heavier than the newer ones and the fiberglass sided ones are heavier than the alluminum sided ones. I would bet less than 4000, and probably closer to 3000.

My 28' Jayflight weighs 4250 empty and is over 6000 fully loaded......

My understanding is the weights given on the trailers are just an empty shell but my 27' says its over 4k. I also think adding 1500lbs in gear and water is pretty easy. Just my water and propane alone is about 500lbs.

Could my dad tow that particular tailor with his f-150 without a problem, it has a 5.4 in it.

The standard Ford 5.4 2wd long bed auto tranny with towing package neighbor hood of 8k lbs. With a 3:73 rear end.

That truck will probably tow that trailer fine. Just take it easy and realize that you won't set any world-land speed records.

Most importantly is to have a proper weight distributing hitch and have it set up properly so that the truck isn't pointing at the sky when hooked up. Too much squat will make the truck difficult to drive (light frontend) and poor braking. Neither of which is good when towing that much weight.

No, I realize that, just want to know it will do it ok. The sticker on the back says its rated at 10k, it does have a factory installed weight equilizer hitch.

I towed my Jayflight with a 1/2 ton GMC and the 5.3 liter and 3.44 rear end. it towed it alright, have the weight distribution hitch, take your time and get the trailer brake controller. That sticker is probably for the hitch not the truck. Buddy of mine tows his trailer with a ford 1/2 ton with the 5.4 not sure on the rear end, but he I know the Fords have a higher tow rating than the GMC

Have it weighed. My 22 ft Weekend Warrior- Carbon Lite was listed at 4915 lbs out the door.It weighed 5505 lbs on 2 different scales...Just an FYI..You will know what you really have weight wise if YOU take it and have it weighed.

It'll pull it. The question is how fast. If you feel like your engine is struggling or your tranny is shifting on every little incline, go to a lower gear and slow down. My ex-Expedition pulled my 27' trailer OK in 4th gear at 65mph, and that was with a 3.08 rear end. My 5.3L Suburban likes going about 60mph, even though it has a lower rear end. :\

If its the bh2200, I don't think its 22ft long. I think that's just the living space. The total length would be 25-26'. It does list at 4900lbs. That is a heavy trailer for the size.
