Well I looked some more and they charge the batterys. I wonder how much vibrations the generator puts off.

There was an article in one of the fishing mags a while back about them. Several of the Yamaha pros were running them (they are made by yamaha) and said they worked awesome on only a half gallon of gas per day. I think they use them when they are on the TM on high all day and it keeps them from running out of TM battery.

I need to look into that. No matter what I do, I always have battery/ dead fish issues.

Did anyone else see the photo of Dave Wolack on the live blog. He had a small generator on the back deck of his boat. I am very curious about this. Does this generator operate a different auxilory livewell pump or does it charge the battery or what? I think its an awesome idea. He mainly uses it during high wind days to keep his trolling motors charged all day. I can tell you he runs 4 optimas in his boat and can keep going in 35 mph winds all day and never miss a beat. The generators noise or vibration isn't a factor where he is fishing......

Yamaha is Brilliant!!! Now they have fishermen justifying carrying a freakin generator in the boat, of course made by yamaha Seriously the day I need a generator in my boat is the day I should have stayed home from fishing.

Covering a lot of water I can see where a quiet 1000 Watt model would be ideal...

Wonder if it is big enough to power a microwave and a blender?

Don't know the rules but could they not call someone to pull their trailer to another ramp and drive to the weigh in?

Better idea would be a big honkin' solar panel mounted on the motor cowling.

It would not surprise me to see some of the major boat brands offer an optional built in generator integrated into the boats design.

I guess that's the difference between the Pros who do it for a living and us the folks who do it for fun.
