I remember reading somewhere that its not good for the environment or the fish that bite lures with wd 40 on it.

By far the best scent out there is UniButter. It isn't as popular in Texas as it is on the West Coast. But it is made out of all natural products and Sea Urchin. It stays on the bait very well and fish devour it! It was initially designed with saltwater bass in mind, but there's no question whether or not it works in freshwater!
