I am looking to replace my aluminum prop with a stainless steel and had a couple questions. Boat is a Triton 1860 Aluminum with a 90hp Merc.

The boat came with two aluminum props.
Standard was a 13 25x17. The previous owner replaced it with I believe it was a 19 to get more top end which is what is currently on there.

I was going to go back to the 17 to get more hole shot. Don't want anything fast, just want something that I can tote 4 people around with comfortably. So I think that if I get a stainless 17 that should do the trick. Just wanted to make sure that I am on the right page here.

My 2nd question is can someone tell me what the 13 25 mean. I was looking at going with a Merc prop of some sort but how will I know if it will fit. Do I need to get exactly a 13 25x17?

the 13 25 is a 13.25" diameter prop.

how many rpms can you turn the 17p alum. prop?

a very good replacement would be a 16p mercury sst prop.

You need to know how many RPM's you are turning fully trimmed out at top speed.

I don't know if your motor is an Optimax or not but those are supposed to turn from 5000-5750 RPM. You want to run in the upper range from what I have read and heard, so that would be 5600-5700 rpm on a 90hp Optimax motor.

Once you get your facts and figures that you have now....you can better find the right prop.

I may be wrong but going from a 17P prop to a 19P prop will get a worse hole shot and decrease rpms lowering top end speed. Whomever bought that prop, went the wrong way from the original 17P on your boat. Going to a 16P SST would be great if you could turn those high rpms. I'd put the 17P back on there and see how many RPMs it turned then go from there.

I put the 17P back on there and it runs 5600-5700 RPM. The 17P actually has a lot more hole shot and runs quite a bit better. It is a few miles per hour slower but everything else is much improved over the 19P.
