I know alot of questions have been asked about this technique and I have done a search and have not found the answers to my questions.... so....
Do you use a spinning setup or a baitcaster? And does your weight selection have to do with using either setup?
Do you prefer nose hooking the bait or rigging it weedless? Along with this are there different circumstances that call for nose hooking or weedless hooking?
Your comments and answers are always appreciated!
The road goes on forever and the party never ends...

the type of cover changes everything you described. D-Shotting is just a tool and must be modified due to the conditions faced for it to work the best.

Do you use a spinning setup or a baitcaster? I have used both. And does your weight selection have to do with using either setup? I use the smallest weight i can get by with.
Do you prefer nose hooking the bait or rigging it weedless? Along with this are there different circumstances that call for nose hooking or weedless hooking? I genereally nose hook the bait. If i am around stumps weedless may be in order. Your comments and answers are always appreciated!

I nose hook mine weedless. Seems to work well fishing brush or open water. I take the hook and lay it along the nose of my bait, and i mark the bait with my thumb at the bend in the hook, then i sink the hook all the way to where the point is about to come through the nose.
Hope this helps.

I powershot...it's my go to technique. I use larger baits in natural colors, really only one goto worm in 2-3 colors. I use 1/4 oz weight if I am fishing shallow and 3/8 if I'm fishing deep. I texpose the worm as I am almost always fishing grass or brush. I throw it on a baitcaster with 30lb braid and a 15lb floro leader. I catch the occasional dink but my average fish is 2-4lbs with several in the 5-7lb range.

I prefer spinning rod with 8lb fluorocarbon. ONLY use a roboworm rebarb hook. Hands down the best hook for dropshotting. Use the lightest weight you can get by it but still feel the bottom. I use owner and kanji dropshot weights.

I use a spinning rod and usually nosehook the bait. Or a 1/0 g-lock hook. ~3' leader 8lb test
