I am new to the area and plan to fish Joe Pool Lake. Should I get lucky enough to catch something, is it O.K. (safe) to eat any fish from there? Thanks for any advice.

Because of the Steel plant in Midlothian. All the runoff goes to Joe Pool. There is a high consentration of Chromium in the lake. Biolgist at Cedar Hill State Park can tell you whats up??

They banded the use of the slag from the steel plant, on our County roads in Ellis County. Because some parents thought there little babies would grow 6 fingers. It made great driveways and it was free for awile. So where do they use all that slag NOW. on the State Hwy,s.

Thank you all for the advice. It looks like the lake is safe, I have no luck catching anything yet. We will see what happens latter today. Thanks again.

Ive fished there for years and ate some catfish I pulled out a few times. It is safe to eat but I dont recommend large quantities for an extended period of time. I fish Walnut Creek often and I wouldn't eat a fish pulled from there. Too much nasty stuff and pollution in that area. Did a volunteer project down there last Fall. Pulled out some nasty nasty stuff.

It won't hurt you. There is probably more pollution in the air we breathe.

When I see an advisory for a particular lake that reads: "No more than 2...... 8oz portions should be eaten per month." ....................................My mind automatically thinks: "How about ZERO portions per month! eeks bouncy

****Sun sinking low....lines baited.....gentle south breeze blowing...you realize.........I AM! .
