I need some help with tying a knot. I have been fishing a local lake where the white bass population seems to be small because there is not a live creek or river running into it for strong spawns. That said it does have a fishable population but the surface action lasts for seconds maybe a minute or two so I try to capitlize on that by catching two at a time. I am looking for a knot that will allow me to throw a cast master (spoon) on the bottom and a jig attached further up. I used a dropper loop ( Link_to_knot ) for tying on the jig this morning but the knot failed on the fourth double hook up and I was no wear near to the actual breaking strength of the line.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a knot that has a higher breaking strength for the jig?

So you tie a surgeon knot but leave the tag long so you can tie one hook to the tag and one to the leader? Of course the tag and leader would be of different lengths.

Practice tying your dropper loop. When I tie mine poorly I can see the line become frayed and damaged. When tied correctly there is no stress signs on the line and hold up even to the hybrid

How many times would you wrap around before completing the loop say in 12lb test? The knot looked good to me, so are there any indications that the knot is tied improperly? I generally pull on knots to test them before fishing, but I obviously need to devise a more efficient process for testing the knot.

I would use 1 loop for 12lb test you could use 2,just moisten the line as usual you should be good to go,this knot has never let me down and if it does with 2 fish on at least you will get 1 lol good luck pm me and let me know how it went

That may have been my problem. I wrapped the line 4 times before forming the loop.

I use a strong swivel, ( no snap) cut a length of leader
and tie a palomar to the swivel. leave one tag end longer
than the other. Tie a jig ( I use a fly) to the short
end and the slab to the long end. What you end up with
is three palomar knots. Tie your main line to the swivel
last. ( eye crosser knot ).

This rig uses more knots , but they are very strong
knots.

I use 30 lb leader and have doubled up on hybrids
with no breakage.
