Now that the wind has calmed a little and we can hit the open water reefs, I wanted to pass along some information and a testimonial from one of our products. The absolute best way to catch a limit of speckled trout in the summer time is to use slicks and active bait. Now that the wind has laid a little we'll start seeing reports from guides that they're catching near limits keying on active bait and slicks. When I started saltwater fishing over 15 years ago I wasted a lot of time fishing what I thought were good locations trying to find that school of fish in that area... and not knowing how to do it. That was frustrating times... fast forward and now I don't waste a lot of time at a reef if the signs aren't there and I know exactly what to look for and I don't stop until I find it...and when I do, it's on. Our Find the Fish Catch a Limit DVD from TroutSupport.com was specifically made to help Speckled Trout anglers get on fish faster and weed out unproductive water faster. We've gotten a lot of testimonials like the one below ...check out the others at the site http://www.troutsupport.com From Ken Morrison "The first time we went out after watching the video, we caught our limit While the pic doesn't show "full" limits, we typically only keep 5 per man so it was a "boat" limit and we let enough go that we would have each had limits had we elected to keep a 10 fish per man limit. The information in the video is well presented and at a level that it doesn't take a life long saltwater angler to understand. After watching the video with me several times and then seeing and fishing slicks in Galveston, my 8 year old made his cousins stop and fish slicks he saw on an outing in Port Aransas last summer. After he explained how to fish them, as best as an 8 year old could, they eventually got tuned in and started catching fish. I don't think they have passed a slick since. Keep up the great work, we are looking forward to future videos." Ken Morrison I also offer a 110% Money Back Guarantee on all DVD's. http://www.troutsupport.com

A big 10/4 on the trout slicks! I learned this method when I was a teenager fishing with my ol' man in Red Fish Bay. Sighting/smelling/ & getting on a good trout slick can be extremely productive while it lasts. Drifting for trout & chasing slicks is just plain fun in my book, especially when you're throwing tandem rigs with soft plastics. Nothing like pulling in keepers two at a time! But, as mentioned above there is the "while it lasts" factor. From my experience, you don't wanna waste any time puttin' em in the box once you get on them. I can still hear my ol' man getting on to me about taking the time to measure each one of them when I knew there was no doubt they were keepers. If one looked close then hurry up & measure it, but don't waste too much time measuring fish that you know are in the 18" to 24" range. Gettem' in the box & get back out there! Especially when it was a little windy, we used to use homemade markers to mark where we hit them. Often times people make the mistake of trying to fish the oily slick itself when the fish were actually up wind a little. Just my .02.

Let me add that if you're not that good at judging lengths, by all means please measure each one. But we fished all the time & got pretty darn good at looking at a fish & being able to accurately judge it's length. If you have to guess at it & aren't real shure then measure it! We never had to worry when we got checked by TP&W, but that was also before to maximum 25" rule so keep that in mind also.

I painted the measurments on my boat in a couple of places, just to be sure. A little bit of blue gelcoat can save you some time.

"I painted the measurements in my boat in a couple of places" that's a great idea ...had a buddy of mine forget to take his check it stick...IN A TOURNAMENT....lol.. and he caught 2 fish that were 2 long on his ice chest...but at the weigh in he measured a fish that was 27 7/8 on the ice chest only to find it was 27.5... that means the fish he threw back were the tourney winners... He was sick.
knowing how to really work slicks is just imperative.

I'm a well seasoned fisherman but definately open minded, there's always something to learn! I'll order tonight.

Here is another killer testimonial from Cory Jones.. He sent me this Sunday PM. "Hey Tobin, Hope you are doing well. My boat is still in the shop since I broke down on the South Shore of WMB back on 5/15, but I was able to get into some fish anyways. Thanks in part to your DVDs, me and the new wife (I also got married 2 weeks ago), went to the surf near SLP on Saturday PM and found some. In an hour, we had 10 to 22 on shrimp! This was my first time fishing the surf, and I was amazed by how many fish were there! We could have had 2 limits, but I spent most of my time taking fish off of her rod and rebaiting her, so I didnt get to fish much (which is OK by me). Sunday I convinced a buddy of mine with a Baby Cat to take me and the wife to the spot where I had taken my friend 3 weeks ago that caught the 27 speck. We made it to the spot pre-dawn yesterday (Sunday), and started wading the same stretch of a gut where I had been weeks earlier. Bait was everywhere, and was jumping like crazy. I saw every single variation of bait fleeing that your DVDs covered, from the lazy jumps to the fleeing jumps.very cool to see it on the DVD and then to actually see it in real life. I havent caught a saltwater fish on top water yet, mostly due to I never had the confidence to throw one vs throwing a paddle tail. Well with all the bait that was jumping, I gave my wife the tail and I tied on a Super Spook Jr. 5 Min after getting in the water I had a blow up the looked like a grenade. I went to set the hook and the line broke immediately! L I guess I had a soft spot in my 6mo old braid. I tied on my last Spook Jr and kept fishing. Waded another 30 yds and had another blow up. Fish missed the bait, I paused it and twitched slightly and the fish hit and missed it again. I paused it again and then twitched and this time the trout came out of the water like a scud missile, and while it was in the air with my spook in its mouth, I set the hook. This was definitely a trout over 25, but I fought it too hard and tore the mouth after a 30 second fight. Extremely bummed, I kept on. Another 30 yards, and I casted up to some fleeing bait in 10 of water over grass and sand. This fish hammered the spook, and I got a good hookset on it. Fought it tenderly for a while before netting it. Brought it in to weight for the STAR tournament, but at 28, fish went 7.1#. This was my first saltwater top water fish, and is my second longest lifetime trout (#1 being a 29 I caught last June in Corpus), but was heavier than that fishso this is the heaviest trout I have ever caught!!! J I want to say that I started bay fishing in May of 2010. Last summer was a big learning time for me, and while I got pretty good at finding and catching Reds, trout were always a fish I caught just by chance. This year was different. I upgraded to a good boat, invested in good gear, and watched both of your DVDs as well as went to many seminars at the Houston fishing show. Since watching your DVDs, my daily average of trout has gone WAY up, and I have had a 27 and a 28 in my hands already in 2011. Keep up the great work!" check out other testimonials and free previews at http://www.troutsupport.comSkinnerBack.. I was fishing over the weekend...your order went out yesterday. t
