Yes,both. What are you hoping to catch? Samuel Farm is catch and release for bass. I have heard City Lake in Mesquite is good for catfish. They stock it with them on a fairly regular basis.

They stock it with them on a fairly regular basis. they stock city lake n palos verdes a few times each year.not sure when or about others. 8inch trout in the winter if you get a 3dollar card to catch them from the city. kids catfish derby on city lake is best time for channel cats but after the derby. been taking my kids to city lake and palos verdes for 7yrs. good place's for your kids to start learning to fish. isnt samuel farms catch and release for all fish? if you live in mesquite? you arent that far from lake ray. hubbard.

Your best bet is Samuel Farm. Eastbound on 80 from 635 exit Belt Line and keep going east on the service road and you will see it less than a half mile from there right by the road. Might check about that catch and release. The only fish I ever caught at Samuel are trout which are not catch and release.I know the bass are catch and release but not sure about the rest for sure.

No bass in Ablon anymore. I think there are cats in there though.
Palos Verdes is pretty good for bass. A TFFer caught an 8lber there not too long ago.

Is Samuel Farm closed...if so can you still get in there to fish? Do you need a license to fish in these ponds? I am totally new to this. Just want to take my kids (teenage) and have some fun. Not fun if you don't catch any though and have to listen to them moan and groan about wanting to go! Where else can we go where we can catch something...doesn't matter what or what size.

Has anyone fished Samuel Farm lately. It is only open from 9-5 Wed to Sunday. Is it worth going out there during those hours. Is one pond better than the others...how many ponds are there?

There are several ponds at Samuel.Big one at the back and east of the barn seems to have good cats. The front pond has bluegill and bass as does the small back pond. Bass are catch and release. With those hours it's tough fishing. I only go there for trout in the winter. Ablon-I only trout fish there too. But I did watch fellows catch cats, perch of some sort and a bass out of it.Oh, and buffalo. City Pond in Mesquite regularly stocks catfish.

i do believe i was there when the claimed 8 lber was caught out of Palos Verdes. That fish didnt weigh an ounce over 5 lbs. Whats worse is that it was held out of the water for a solid 3 minutes for a photo oppurtunity before being released. The guy didnt even "swim" it to force water through his gills when letting it go. He just tossed it back. Now...this could have been a seperate fish and a different time...I can consider that to being possible. However, the 3 other individuals that were present were all saying that it was 8 lbs easy and i could only laugh. That fish among others were live released into Palos Verdes from Ray Hubbard by a guy who lives close by. About 4-5 years ago Palos Verdes was completely drained for improvements and all fish were transported to other local ponds in the city. My Uncle headed the project for the City of Mesquite.

If your looking to catch fish in Mesquite look up catfish corner. It is a catfish farm and they stock it regularly. It costs 2 bucks to get in. Google it. I catch everytime I go there. Nice size cats. I have some good memories from there. That's wheere I learned to fish That's just my 2 cents.
