I thought I'd share an incident that happened to me yesterday while fishing off the Galveston Seawall near the old fishing pier. I was bait fishing off the rocks after work and had been there for almost an hour when a pair of waders walked down the stairs I was at and entered the water. They then proceeded to wade out and fish, one on either side of my bait. If it hadn't been for the fact that I wasn't catching anything, I'd have been pissed. After about 20 mins they moved down the shoreline, limboing my line, only to have two more guys walk down the stairs and do the exact same thing without even acknowledging I was there.

I do my fair share of wading so I don't want to impune all waders but to have two different groups pull that same stunt is a little suspect. That was about the most disrespectful act I've seen in along time and I've seen my fair share.

Two groups did it. Maybe they thought that you should should show a little respect and not fish near the stairs, or maybe I misunderstood the situation.

I can understand them entering there, but they should have moved on. There is plenty of ocean to fish. I try to give people their space.

I can see both sides of this story. #1 if your fishing close to the steps I could see how they "waders" would have to walk through where your fishing. #2 if said waders wanted to walk through where you were fishing a excuse us as we pass by would be the right thing to do. Just my .02 worth.

Just think how many potlickers you'd have chummed up if you were actually catching anything...

OK, let me clarify the situation for you. If you guys are familiar with the seawall on Galveston, it has numerous stairs set abot 150 yards apart running the length of the wall. I was not fishing on the stairs but right next to them, there's a 10 yard section of flat rock at the base that also runs the length of the wall so once you get down the stairs you can easily walk either way down the shoreline without getting in the water. I didn't mind the waders coming down the stairs I was fishing near but once they saw where I was and where my bait was, they should have walked down the shoreline, if only 20 feet, instead of tight roping my line and posting up right on top of my bait. There was no one else around.

Sorry if my comment came off as harsh but whether your on a boat, wading or shore fishing, people need to show a little fishing etiquette.
