I want to take a trip soon and have off next week. Where is a good place to go this time of year and who would you recommend as a guide. I want to take a friend as my guest.

That depends on were you want to go and what you want to catch.
Your in Fort Worth so I would think you would like to avoid driving through Dallas, Plano etc.
At PK we only have Sand Bass to offer right now so I am out. My number is 817-999-1922 if you think that might be an option. Your best bet would be to call Mr. Acosta or Randy Routh and book a trip at Whitney. From there recent post it looks like the fishing is good to great and again you won't have to drive through the jungle to get there. PM me if you need there number.
IF you decide to go to Texoma then call JD Lyle. He is booked I am sure but will point you to another guide if he is.
I would suggest Trent at Tawok or one of the guides who post here on TFF.

Thanks for the input so far! Tawakoni , Whitney or any lake within about an hour to hour and half could work. Would love to catch fish but onlyintend to keep a few to eat. Don't mind switching species etc , really just want to have a good time but not really interested in filling the freezer.

I would give Matt Cartwright, Joe Reed or Jimmy Smith a call and fish Tawakoni, any of them can put you on big fish and they have the option to chase big sand bass, big hybrids or stripers. Not knocking anyone but I have fished with or around all of these guys and their customers catch fish and have a good time.

I hope some one will post up Jimmys contact info.

Trent doesn't feel pressure. Pressure feels Trent. Hope to see him in the TSA tourney in a few weeks.

Update on the trip.
Trent tried to put us on some sandies early so we could fill up the chest for a fish fry then go after some stripers. He showed us how to slab for them but "all" we got were 20 - 30 keepers which wasn't good enough for Trent, so we went all over the lake trying slabs, shassy shad, live shad, dead-sticking you name it. He absolutely worked his backside off trying everthing.
Finally, at noon, when the trip was supposed to be over he was STILL chasing those bad boys down, and probably wouldn't have stopped till dark except he finally found a big school of mixed hybrids and stripers and we tore them up!
We had 4 on at once between the three of us and in about 5 - 10 minutes had boated 9 stripers and hybrids averaging between 8 and 9 lbs each! They were hitting so fast we were dropping them in the bottom of the boat to pick up another rod while Trent was taking them off and re-baiting... it was a circus but will be among my most memorable trips ever!
Thanks Trent

Tim it was a pleasure fishing with you and Von. Two class acts no doubt. Sorry they didn't cooperate early. I'm glad we hit the bigs late. As the ole saying goes..."All is well that ends well."
