screen size and i believe that is it .well and about 500 dollars i chose to save the 500 and am very happy

I got the 898 and my buddy's have the 998...I love my decision and saved the extra 500 and bought some more baits thumb

Yup, I guess in some circumstances size matters. But probably not in this case. I went for the 798 ci HD, but if you can spring for the 898, then go for it. You might check prices on universalmania.com.

It's all about "Real Estate" and square inches of display...here is come comparisons and the larger the screen the easier it is to see the small details.

Hopefully Humminbird will make it so we can move the info bar on the 898 and 998 to the bottom. that will free up alot of extra space

I have never understood why that info bar is taking up that much room... it should be removable totally or as said above at least to the bottom...
