I have been pondering this question for a while and think I have decided on two. Since I am from North Texas, looking <2 hrs, I would like either a house with a deep water dock on Possum Kingdom, or have a house boat docked at the marina on Texoma. I chose these two lake because they have a variety of fish and the ability to produce big fish. As well as the proximity to where I live and I believe they dont suffer as much from the fluctuating water levels our lakes see from year to year.

I am sure I am not the only fisherman out there thinking this way, so lets here what you guys have to say.

A five spot for a shot and a beer? And you wonder how we wound up here.

My dream house in Horseshoe Bay on LBJ Lake, no dock, no boat-house, but with my own launch ramp. This is a constant-level lake, with bass and crappie, and no alligators. And, it's not that far to Whitney, Rayburn, and Toledo Bend (lakes I like).
The winters are not harsh, which is important for us.

Need to improve my LMB fishing, running out of time.

Tawakoni because the crappie under your boat dock will be thick as flies.

I think possum really does go up and down a lot may want to check on that
We have a place on Lake Fork so I would take Whitney, Possum kingdom would not be bad either though
Before buying anywhere make sure you have water year round
I see a lot of docks on Cedar Creek and Tawkoni that water recedes for several hundred feet from the property
Only have water a couple of months out of the year

Fork area. Then you are an hour drive from a bunch of lakes.

Texoma for me, grew up going to Texoma, we recently gave up on a lake home and bought a 40 foot motor home, now we have a lake home on which ever lake we choose. About the only way we could get what we want on Texoma is to sell our home, not ready to do that now if ever.

I have the same question.....I am considering either getting a small second home or actually moving all together to lake front. I prefer white bass / hybrids and crappie and the lake has to allow docks.....with this in mind, where would you go?

Tawak
Cedar Creek
Sandlin

I am not sure anymore,I thinkl you are really getting limited on lakes that you can get close to the water and installing a dock is even harder
We did one on lake fork several years ago and had to submit to both SRA and COE for approval
Whatever you do before purchasing watch or get assurance thathe water level will stay maintained under your dock enough to use it
Ours is useable year round the neighbors about 60 ft away is off and on and another 60 ft only in the rainiy months is it useable
You could pay a bunch of money for a place that has a dock and lots of waqter unti summer comes along
