Im gonna try to keep this simple. Would yall go with a cheaper brand of bait like Big Bite Baits or spend the extra money and get Gary Yamamoto. I took both of these baits to a pool the other day and the difference in action they have is day and night. Just wondering if yall get as good results fishing with the cheaper brands, or is it a waste of money. Dang senkos are expensive and I go through a ton of em so fast. Thought about trying another brand but not sure if I trust it or not. College has my funds low. Or is there another comparable brand?

Try yum dingers, they cost less and are a lot more durable.

Big Bite Baits trick worms have worked very well for me. I have caught several solid fish using them, and good numbers too. I have used while fishing with a friend who was using flukes, and out fished him 7 fish to 1. They do have a very different action, but I have not been disappointed. For an even more distinct action, Texas rig a trick worm weightless and fish it in 3-6 feet of water around some kind of cover. The darting action it has really seems to drive them nuts.

I agree with Txduckgunner. Yum dingers are the way to go. Have worked very well for me.

You can find the Yum Dingers on sale at Academy a lot of the time for 1.88 for a package of 10-15. Pretty good deal.

I like the Yum Dingers too. But, if there's money on the line (tournaments) I'll be using a Yamamoto. They're just better...

I get as good of results with cheaper brands when the fish are very active, but on a tough day the senko will blow the others out of the water. IMHO.

Alot of it depends on how you are actually fishing the bait as well. If you are fishing it weightless, you can bet that brand makes a difference. Each one has a different fall rate because of salt content and the type plastic used to make the bait. GY baits have much more action than most others fished weightless and sink much faster. Tiki sticks have alot of action but sink slower. Ocho's sink slower than Tiki sticks. Big bite's baits are about in between. Yum dingers are about in between as well. All of them catch fish. Look at the activity level of the fish, how deep they are, and how you want to present your bait.

If you are fishing them on a texas rig or carolina rig, the brand becomes much less important. On another note, GY, ochos, and Tiki Sticks usually come out of the package straight, whereas cheaper brands will have inconsistencies and some of the baits will be bent and not perform like they are supposed to.

Yum dingers have done well for me. Work well, more durable than yamamoto, and cheaper.

The rule I use is if I am doing something that relies solely on the built in action of the bait I go with Yamamoto. They have the best action for sure. If I am dragging or power shotting or anything else that doesnt involve falling slowly on slack line Ill use pretty much whatever is close at hand.

Strike King Shim E Sticks...my fav. You can get em at Walmart in the single bags. Academy has them but you have to buy a mega pack of them in a hard plastic case. Pisses me off.
