a buddy of mine went there yesterday....caught a few whitings and a few croakers...he said the seaweed was ugly and it was a wash....ended up meeting up with me at pelican island....i sure cant wait for this wind and weed to die down, man....
rod and reel is wanted up and down the coast for "assault with a deadly weapon" on the hardhead community

Bumer Thanks Tha_Nightshift, thanks for the report. However, that not what I wanted to hear , but thats what I needed to know, so thanks again How thick was the seaweed, i was wondering if its in the stage of getting thicker or dying away?

Well we mainly fished the surf side kayaking baits out for sharks (which didn't produce for us) but hit rollover for a bit one morning. fished the bayside throwing assasins, got a few hits. 1 trout 1 flounder. water looked great when i was there.

I hit Rollover Pass, Sat and yesterday. Seaweed was very bad. Caught 1 small hardhead and a pup black tip shark, 23 inches. Released the shark pretty much unscathed.

Thanks LRS and Nac,
Well I have decided last night to wait on my trip to RP until the seaweed clears up. Driving all the way from Lufkin sure would have been a disappointment to see all that seaweed. I will keep an eye on ya'lls reports. Thanks fellas!!!

Well you need to kayak baits in the RollOver area. Use bull mullet.

Hey Nac or anyone,
How did you do at RP? Has the seaweed gone completely gone yet? Looks like the waters have been calmer since the past few weeks. I bet the waters are beautiful green by now too. Is there plenty of live bait in the water too. I plan on going with the next weeek or two.

I hit Rollover area last saturday, June 11, 2011. Last minuet trip. Saw some people catching some nice fish in the evening, but I misjuged the tides and only caught gaftop and large hardheads. Had a lot of fun with the kids. We were catching fish just about every cast. My youngest boy wanted to keep them to eat, but I told no. A couple of hardheads were around 4 lbs and made me think about it. Its always fun when something is biteing.

Mostly cut croaker. I have done well on specks before with it. Take the scales off to make it shinny. The boys wer using live, then dead shrimp. The shrimp ran out quick. I also used some live shad I caught with the cast net, nothing real was interested in that.
