I would probably use a football jig since the head it broader. Maybe it won't get hung up as much.

Football for sure....and keep in contact with the rocks...i would use a slow drag and pause....it will probably still get hung up some, but not as much as some of the other jigheads

If you're fishing rip rap i don't think football heads will help you much. I might try a swim jig and bounce it (rather than drag it) over the big rocks.

When fishing rip rap I typically use an arkie-style head. While it gets caught up in the rocks the shape keeps it from "digging in" and it can usually be popped free. A football head is the same concept but isn't nearly as effective. Stay away from all flippin'-style jigs with any sort of pointed head around rocks. Because the head broadens along its length its very susceptible to wedging in place. I hope this helps!

The Football Jig was invented to fish rocks.

a black angel football jig trailered with a hag's undertaker is hard to beat also black angel jig heads are tough and don't chip easily.

Football heads were designed for pee gravel-small rock at best. Throw a football jig at riprap and as JP said it wont last long. Asprin head jigs are most effective in riprap with standard ball head jig's in second, go as light of weight as you can.
