Flat eye or in line? I am a huge fan of the in line type as I feel I get better hookups and less lost fish. Plus the jig tends to be a bit easier on not hanging up. You would think it would not matter as all flipping hooks have the flat eyes but in jig fishing for me it seems to be a big deal.

I like in-line on flipping jigs and flat eye on football heads.

They are currently my favorite when it comes to fishing a jig around everything. I can drag it around boat ramps/rock. I can flip it around wood/docks/brush.. It may not be the best for any specific category but it is right up there with the Arkie for just a great all around jighead.. I have stuck some good ones on it this year!

IMO line tie is over rated as far as hookups are concerned. I know pro's i.e. Denny Brauer will tell you flat eye is the only way to go, but well umm they are also sponsored.....

I think flat eye does have a bit of a tendency to come over limbs a bit better though so in that sense I will favor them in wood, i.e. arky with flat eye.

I also feel they perform better and have better action on football heads. Overall though I think it's a bit over hyped.

couldn't have said it better myself....heck I haven't even been fishing long enough to know what the heck a flat eye or in line are...I use pretty much nothing but Revenge jigs and I tie it to the hole on the top with a palomar knot....and I fish them around and under boat docks, in trees, around grass and on do nothing banks smile

It doesn't matter to me either way. I choose a jig based on things other than the line tie. I just checked and all of my pitching jigs are inline and I have both versions on my football jigs.

For a swim jig I would choose an inline line tie all the time.

The most weedless ties on behind the head. Heavy cover or grass there hard to beat. JigX football, flipping, or swimjig.

Always flat for me. The reason being if you take a flat eye and tie your line to it and run the line between your thumb and fore finger, when you get to the eye, the bait will turn so the hook turns up! With an in-line the hook turns to its side.

So IMO there is a lot better hook-up ratio with the flat eyes.
