i don't have a rod box on my boat and i'm looking for an alternative to lock them up so i can leave them out.
any suggestions? i'd rather not put a 7-8ft box on the boat there isn't really a good spot for it.
2011 Fish Eagle Mountain Lake: Sandbass x33; PB 1.0lb 13inch. LMB x3; dinks. Benbrook Lake: Hybrid Bass x2; 5.05lb,2.5lb. Sandbass x3; small. Lake Tahoe: Mackinaw Trout x3; 6lb, 4lb, 3lb. Truckee River: Rainbow Trout x1; too small to weigh. San Francisco Bay: Leopard Shark x3; 15lb, 8lb, 7lb.

I think you might be better off buying one of those rod & reel bags so you can roll them up & put them in a safe place. Unless you built a box that the reels would sit in and be lockable (also keeping people from unscrewing the rod from the reel) there is no safe way to leave them out. Good luck and I hope somebody knows of a solution to your problem.

Its sucks, but pull them out and store them in your cabin/tent/hotel. Better safe than sorry. I leave my rod box unlocked and keep my combos with me. I'd rather the thieving bastards easily open my box and see there's nothing to steal than have them break the lock/fiberglass.

Yeah, Joe, I have a motion sensor, too. But I've had my rod box broken into once, and when I recarpeted my boat recently, I didn't even reinstall the locks. I'm not leaving anything in my boat for others to steal. I carry a 45 ACP, but I don't want to kill someone over fishing tackle.
