I was thinking about getting the Navionics Marine and Lakes app for my iPhone. I live on Lake Fork and the service is not always the best. If anyone has this app will you please let me know what you think about it. Thanks

it does not require cell phone service to perform.
i have the 3gs iphone, and am relatively pleased with my navionics app. it keeps up pretty well (gps location, tracks etc)
I currently have the OLD lakes south app, running the final update. I would assume the new app you mention should work even better.
My ONLY minor complaint (thus far Fork specific) is the lack of contours in some areas.. it just shows blue. (ill post a pic in a minute to demonstrate)
With the new community overlay information, Its cool to see what other folks have labeled as hotspots, warnings/hazards etc. I really like the app.
if you intend on running and keeping tracks for your trips, make sure you bring your car charger, as the app running gps constantly will DRAIN your battery FAST.

As mentioned it is relatively easy to use. Use just need to be able to have WiFi or directly hooked up to the computer to download this App. I believe.

Image shows "lack of contours" I mentioned. Only in small areas Ok I have one other complaint, when I updated it deleted all my tracks/waypoints from Falcon!

Thank you for the detailed "IMO." I look forward to using it. Maybe it will allow me to become a better fisherman. "There's an app for that."lol

I have had the app for a little less then a year and i love it for the "pre" fishing availability. If i am fishing a new body of water i have never seen i can use the app in the days leading up to my fishing trip to rule out any areas that might not fit the current pattern.
like Ride-or-Fish said, when you stop to fish make sure you shut the app down or the GPS function continues to run and your battery will be gone in less than an hour.
good luck!

Just posted on the other thread...
I have it and really like it. During one of our collegiate FLW tourneys, we drew a boater that did not have a GPS on the boat or map... Weather changed completely from what we had planned to do, so I pulled up the app on my phone, found where we could/wanted to fish and went after it. Without it that day, we would have been completely blind. So it paid for itself right then...
Don't leave it on and don't use the GPS part that tracks where you have been. It will completely drain your battery from 100% to 10% in less than 2 hours... Learned that the hard way...
I fish saltwater and bought the marine and lakes app... Not sure if there is much of a difference.
Make sure to down load any lakes that you might need while at home on wifi. I don't think you can download them while out on the water.
I bought the marine, because I am from Port A, but I never use it down there... I know all of that water... But if I travel north to unexplored waters, I will be glad to have it...
