Well today was the last day of my reprieve before I have to trudge back into the salt mine tomorrow. JackMack was kind enough to drive down and join me.

The water is still right around 80 degrees and clear other than where the wave action from boats and the wind had it a little murky on some shorelines.

We started throwing Upside Down Frogs while the wind was still relatively calm (~10-15 mph). JM hooked up on a nice bass with his UDF, but couldn't quite close the deal and get him in the boat. Other than a small bass I caught to finish the day this afternoon, that was the only bass we hooked all day.

The bream were feeling pretty perky today though.

This was a hard picture to take because I was laughing too hard after this fish peed on JM. Not a little dribble either. It was a full on stream of bream pee.

A good day on the water overall. Hopefully JM will have time to put up some of the pictures he took today with his fancy-schmancy waterproof camera. smile

Man oh man I wish.. Lot's of good fun, there.

Are you sure that was pee? Might have caught him just as he was getting ready to take care of business. Just sayin'.

Don't be wishin'...come up here and we'll go fishin'. smile

As for the liquid that ended up on JM, I'm no expert on bream bodily fluids so I shan't comment. smile

I also had a hard time closing the deal on the big bass today not too far from there. At a PWF lake in Martins Mill. Almost got him on my bluegill imitation fly...

What is a PWF lake, if you don't mind me asking? Martins Mill is good country. I used to ride colts at a ranch over there way back when.

I finally got around to fishing the bluegill on the left of this picture. It wasn't as much of a bear to cast as I had feared and wow is it cool looking in the water. Very weedless. I do think I'm going to downsize it though.

There's also an artificials joke in there if you want to dig for it.

I have always said that it's better to be pissed off than pissed on, and now I know why. I'll put up my pics later today. A couple hero shots of our friend TXRR with some mighty nice fish!

TXRR - this is a bit off-topic. But PWF is Private Water Fishing - my wife bought me a membership for the year for my birthday (what a woman!). They have two sites in Martins Mill - several in Canton. Most members are baitcasters, but I only flyfish.

You'll have to work a bit harder on egress in the Ween than in Mike's boat. smile

It's only a matter of time until I do one myself.

Toad bluegill. I've only been to Athens once and it is definitely my favorite bluegill lake.

I'm definitely blessed to live as near it as I do, but I feel a bit teased to not get to fish it any more than I do. smile

I just wish that the colors those fish are when you first catch them could be conveyed by my silly little camera. I swear they look like tropical fish.

Those bluegill totally changed my mind about (relatively) light fly rods. Being able to catch them a bit more often than random chance makes me a lot more willing to sling my 3wt. smile
