Use a rubber sponge or pillow ticking for the dip baits.

If it is dip bait the springs won't help, they are for dough bait.

When using the sponges, when freshning up the bait be sure and squeeze the water out. That way it won't dilute the jar of bait.

I use the Catfish Charlie blood dough bait, and it is VERY good. The only other bait that I have tried, that will hold it's own againts it is Big Marvs. I have not tried the dip bait, but might if you have any luck with it. I roll 3/4 inch balls of the dough bait then coat with ordinary flour, put them in covered plastic container in ice chest. Easy to use, no mess.

I did finally used the CF Charlie this past weekend and had a couple of catfish in the boat. Didn't have the sponge hooks so I had to make pouches out of a plastic bag that I had on board. Had about an hour of fishing and the bag did the trick. Put bait in the little pouches a good amount of the bait and punched some hook holes in the pouch and "WALA" 2 fish that were a couple of pounds apiece.

The springs will work fine with dough bait as well as punch bait. I don't think Catfish Charlie makes punch bait, but does make dip bait. If you have Dip Bait, do what I do.........and it saves a lot of money. I take a rubber pencil grip, punch holes in it with a hole punch, thread it on the line, push it into the dip bait and go fishing. I have used pencil grips for years. A pack of 20 will cost $1 or so at any dollar store or wal*mart. Good luck with it.
