There was a long thread about the BPS chargers in the Bass section about a week ago. Everyone said they eventually had to take them back and a couple said they actually started a fire.

Thanks that's good to know. I'll steer clear of those then. What about the Cabelas chargers any word on them? I'll probably get a Minn kota or guest. By the way cheapest I found the was 165 on amazon. If u Google it there are a couple cheaper stores but they are all out of stock.

The "315D" unit is apparently a "Digital" unit. From the description: DIGITALLY CONTROLLED. We set out to build a smarter charger, and the result is the ingenious microprocessor-based design of our new on-board units. By monitoring factors like temperature and state of charge, they deliver a faster, more regulated precise charge so you can stay on the water longer, without worrying about your batteries. Whether that makes a real difference, I don't know.

The D from what I was told when I asked on BBC was simply meant Digital, hopefully Doug will take a look at this, he can probably explain it better.

that would be great.
well went an picked up that tm from Richard Meadors above. Looks good. Didnt get a chance to install it, had to go play golf an mow the yard.
Since my boat was orriganally wierd for 12/24v basically i can just pick 2 leads and wire them into the 3 (round) prong plug and discard the 3rd correct? Or do i need that 3rd wire for something? Also i guess i should try an wire in a 50amp breaker right. I havnt noticed one in there any where so i guess it didnt come with one. If any one could give me some pointers on this that would be cool.

That is what I did just used two of the leads as mine was also a 12/24. You wont need the 3rd wire. Make sure you have a circuit breaker in there. They are cheap and good insurance. Use a voltage meter and just make sure you have the right volts when you get everything hooked up.

The new Minn Kota Chargers are now 3 Stage Linear Temperature Compensated Charger that are now Digitally controlled by a micro-processor. Here is a clip I did that trys to help explain about these chargers and some of the new features like state of charge and diagnostics light notifications http://youtu.be/gNKKfNP2DC4

An just so I'm clear I put the circuit breaker on the hot lead correct?

The "D" at the end of model is the new 2011 Model Digital Chargers.
You need to hook leads direct to the battery. Circuit Breaker is for Trolling Motor lead.

I asked that question a few weeks ago everybody told me I needed a 50 amp.
