they catch small fish too which I hate, and sand bass!!!

I like it mostly because it spits better that a pop r. With a YM you get a "fitz" and with the Pop r it's more of a "bloop". It seems lighter so it guides a little better on the water. It's caught me more fish than a pop r has.

I have both the YM and the Zell Pop, and I have more confidence in the Zell Pop. For me, it's just caught more and bigger fish. Probably all in my head.

I love the yellow magic. Me and my father fished them exclusively last week and won a tournament on Bob Sandlin. In a tournament I fish the 1/2oz, and when me and my boys are out I fish the 1/4oz. Catch more fish on the 1/4oz as expected, but landed a 7lbr during the tournament on the 1/2oz Japanese Shad color. Hooks are junk, 2 small fish and they are already bent. I replace them immediately right out of the box; doesn't affect the action of the bait.

They seem to be way superior to the Pop-R's. I will have to get some of the 1/2 oz. size. Japanese Shad is my favorite color. Only thing is the paint doesn't stay on long. My need to spray a clear coat on it before hand. We change the hooks out also. I had a 4#+ try to eat it at Sandlin weekend before last. That was a blast, even though he didn't get a hook in him. Came nearly out of the water for it.

What hooks do you use to replace the stock (admittedly weak) hooks? I have always heard anything other than replacing with stock hooks hurts the action, Sure would like to know of a good replacement hook that doesn't impact the lure's great action. Thanks.

Bass Raptor I use a #4 Mustad triple grip on front,and when the feather dressed hook on back gets wore out I replace it with a feathered Gamakatsu I get at Lake Fork Marina.

Does it catch half as many fish now?

they dont seem to be magic to me,..i do use them more because of the price i feel more compeled to use them,..

Dude this Yellow Magic has been officailly Retired! It served me well for over 10 years!

Had a YM for 5 years, caught conservatively over 300 fish on it. The Lake Fork Monster ate it last year. Man I miss that lure. It was one of those perfect lures you get once in awhile. I have others but they dont compare to that one.
