If you only knew the hundreds of boats that cross there every weekend. There is a FOREST underwater in the middle of caney. If you turn on a side imager thru there you would swear you were driving around fork. Seriously. When coming into caney or going out of caney be sure and stay south. I go thru there about a hundred to a hundred and fifty yards off the southern points. Very dangerous when the lake gets low.

Thanks for that info, HOGHUNTR. Will be launching out of Fisherman's warf next weekend and not familiar with the area....so your post is very timely for me.

Yes, there were some big trees there years ago on the lake side of the bridge.

There are tons of big trees in that area of Caney. The safest place to run is on the south bank. Be safe

thumb I was in a friends boat and he drove right through the trees and never knew they was there. I was holding on tight because I know whats under the water in that area. He still does not belieive me.

there is a hoss off a tree dead center where you are talking about. i didnt think the lake was low enough for it to be hit yet though. it had a pc of a skeg broken off in it the last time the lake was low. we marked it but the lake was alot lower than it i now.

I think a floater if it takes on so much water can almost suspend in the water column just below the surface. Checking the actual hull that was in the water for damage might be a good idea. The hull could have knocked it down and out of the way of the motor leaving no motor damage but definitely a large bump in the road.

Better spin your prop by hand and see if you bent a prop shaft.
