This is why we better get youth involved in fishing and the outdoors. They are going to have to learn to take matters in their own hands and do what the state wont. They need to learn everything about fishing not just the catching.JMO no it is fact.

My lake gets them every other year (most lakes have a schedule unique to them)...We are on the schedule for 2011 IF the Hybrids are produced, (heard this from the TPW biologist). The Twak stocking seems to show that they were produced.

I was just playing around and looking at what private party fingerlings cost. 4-6 inch hybrid fingerlings at $2.00 a piece makes me very happy TP&W has such a great program. My goodness that's a lot of fish!

How many predators does a 4-6 fingerling hybrid have to compete with, are they canibals, will the adults eat the young? Of 100,000 fingerlings stocked what percentage should live to legal limit?

According to our Biologist, about one in three fingerlings make it to 18 inches. They may do a little better or worse from lake to lake. Crappie are big predators on the little fish, followed by LMB.

Thats pretty good actually, that would translate to a yield of about 30,000 legal hybrids per year based on the recent stockings on Ray Hubbard. It would take alot of 5 fish limits being taken to deplete the fishery!

I was told Friday that parks and wildlife put 150,ooo small fry hybrids in Hubbard.all around the lake. DON'T FORGET TO CATCH @ RELEASE THE BIG ONES SO THEY CAN GET EVEN BIGGER.

This may have been covered before but why do the hybrids not reproduce in our lakes as some have claimed? I thought the reason TPWD continues to stock Hubbard when they don't stock Lavon was because they were in fact reproducing in Hubbard but not Lavon?

There are rumors of "H2" fish being seen but from what I've read, the sperm is underdeveloped and the eggs can't accept the sperm. One of the two is not sticky enough or too sticky, I can't recall.
The hybrid vigor from the white bass and striper cross is awesome. Fast growing and yummy to eat. Fantastic predator all of the way around. Unfortunately, functionally sterile.
There was a guy named Glazener up on Texoma that knew a ton about it but I haven't read anything lately.

Very few, if any documented cases of Hybrid reproduction on record. If they did, most lakes would be full of little Hybrids.
