I wouldn't as the short wheelbase models only have a 2000# towing capacity and the limited model long wheel base has a 3500# tow cap. I looked into getting a Wrangler for an extra vehicle and to drive back and forth to work but when I realized what the tow capacities were I changed my mind.

I tow a 20' BassCat Puma with mine. I don't know what kind of towing you are talking about. I only tow my boat a couple of miles to the ramp and back. It has plenty of power but,it is short. It is a 2005 Rubicon. With 4 wheel disc brakes it seems to stop fine but, as I will say again, it is short. You could wind up in a bind on a busy road. Also, the Rubicon has 4:10 gears and, the others are 3:73.

I have seen several people do it, talked to some that said power wasnt an issue.

Personaly I would get something bigger.

Yea pulling only a couple of miles maybe. I was thinking more highway and city driving in traffic. Even on a country road and some random animal runs across the road your gonna have your hands full. I didn't say it couldn't be done, I just said I wouldn't driving in the conditions as I do. Here are the towing specs Wrangler is at the bottom. The older models were the same capacities.

Not a whole lot of vehicle weight and a short wheelbase as well. I would be worried about braking also.

Are you asking about a standard one or one of the 4 door ones?

Seems like the 4 door one has a longer wheelbase and would be better.

I probably wouldnt mind pulling my 16ft aluminum boat with a Jeep but not a 20ft glass boat, thats for sure.

I have an '09 2dr Rubicon, I wouldn't care to tow that much weight with it, UNLESS it was for a very short distance at low speeds. It just isn't long enough to be safe at speed. I see the boat pushing/manhandling the Jeep more than the Jeep would be towing the boat. It just will not take much to upset the rig with that much leverage/weight behind it, not a very good idea. An Unlimited 4dr would at least have the length to make it, still would need a trans cooler for certain.

If you are going at speed or much of a distance, use the proper vehicle. Without it you could legally be in big trouble if something were to happen while towing with that as well..

I have a 2005 Rubicon Unlimited on 36's and I tow my 18.5' Champion. But, I live close to the lake and do not drive far, or fast. I would not recommend towing with a Wrangler unless it is a short distance. The boat pushes the Jeep around a lot.

Still not saying I think a jeep is a good tow vehicle, but riding on 36's will very much magnify it.
