Fished Lake Lavon today in the wind. It was terrible. I knew that going into it, but I just got new rod holders installed(Bee Readys http://www.beereadys.com/beeFourRodHolder.htm) I was near the lake so we took her for a spin. There was no where to hide from the wind and I promised Nick I would put him on some carp with the fly rod. Met him at the ramp and off we went. Got a good cove to fish in and it was game on. Not bad for his 1st carp on the fly rod. took him into his backing two times and took all the backing at least once to where he had to basically swim after it! Mike even got into the hard fighters. The sun hit the spot they were in and they shut down. Fun for about an hour with 9 being caught. Good job and congrats on your first carp(s) Nick! Wet wading or from the bank? Also on the fly it doesn't matter so much on the pattern as much as the presentation. As LHD put it imagine trying to get a blade of grass in front of a cow.

Hmmmmmm.... I always see alot of really big toe suckers on a particular stretch that I fish and have always wanted to try it. I believe I will now... Sight casting to a poor man's bonefish...I like it!!! Do Buffalo fall for teh same deal?

Yes. My son and I got into a school of buffalo below Denison Dam awhile back. We caught four in a row from 5-14 lbs on gray Cat's Whiskers.

Is that a spinning reel in the background of one of those photos?

When Nick lost his last fly, he used his ultra light. Caught two on that. The rest were fly rod.
Don't matter if the reel is on backwards, upside down, or even mounted to the rod or not mounted, I'll still catch fish.
