Daiwa makes stand up products so I don't think you would need to worry about the reel. The rod, however, I haven't the slightest clue as I have never fished with surf fods. If you have 30 days, beat the hell out of it for 29, then return it! JK. But at least you have 30 days to see if everything is going to work out for you. If at the end of the 29 days, if you don't feel comfortable with the purchase, send it back.
