Hit Canyon lake with the Banker to see what we could do. Fished a couple of spots and ended up with a nice mix of bluegill, redbreast, rios, greens, longear, redear and one little bass. We were surprised by both the quantity and quality of the fish. Had quite a few fish around 8 inches and would have mess to eat if we wanted. Caught close to 50 fish for me and I am sure Chuck caught close to the same or more. Most fish were caught on or close to the bottom and under a float in 3-8 feet of water. The lake looked to be about 4 or 5 feet low but that makes more room along the shore to fish.

After doing so good at Canyon we stopped by Dunlap at two bank spots and the bite was off. Only ended up catching about 8 fish between the two of us. If you would have told me that we would go to Canyon and catch more fish than Dunlap I wouldn't have belived a word of it. we will definitely be revisiting Canyon in the future. Thanks for lunch Chuck and look forward to our next adventure(whereever that may be).

And a itty bitty bass

What the?!??!!??!? In my backyard?!?!??! Oh, I'm definitely going to have to schedule a gathering on Canyon with ya'll. We'll bring both Tall Tale's boat (can fit more people) and my boat. Now, if you guys can show me how to clean and cook the sunnies, we will be better than perfect!

Sounds like a plan to me Steven. I only know of a couple of spots up there but will be exploring more when I can. I know Chuck will be interested too. I just don't know how crazy it will be up there once school lets out.

Mike, my heart just stopped for a few beats when you had reminded me about how horrible it will be when school lets out.
Robert, you are more than welcomed to come along.
Maybe we can hit some spots up the river or some coves that are away from the main lake to keep the jet fleas and rec boaters from disturbing our venture. We'll have to think this one out a bit.

Enjoyed the trip Mike as always. Like you I was surprised about the number of fish and the quality of em. The Gills were very fat and healthy and would have been great for the frying pan. There were a few that would have easily gone over a half pound. Also I was surprised that we caught more out of Canyon than Dunlap. The bite was really off on Dunlap. Look forward to the next time. Super report and nice fish. Good job!

My brother and I were hiding in the trees in the back of one of the coves, trying to hide from the wind and yes here come
the jet skis this morning. What gets me, they came into
fairly calm water, just to try and make wakes so they could
bounch over them. The season is hear. Help me cuss them!
Have fun fishing though.

Looks like it's about time to start planning night trips!!! Not sure if you can catch sunnies at night. I'm hoping crappie will bite. The cats should be as hot as they were 2 years ago when we tore them up (thanks to Cliff Hill's advice!). Guess it's better all around....beat the heat!

Common sense isn't so common, I think. When I was out at Dunlap I fished from the bank but watched a guy on his boat almost go overboard when a family in a rec boat went zooming by less than 30 feet from him.

Part of me understands that if they've never been fishing they would be oblivious to how this effects someone who is trying to fish whether in a boat or off the bank... but the rest of me just wonders how could they seriously not know to slow the heck down when passing ANY occuppied watercraft? I can definitely say I will not be out on those sorts of recreational waters on weekends unless I know I can be relatively far away from folks like that.

Next week I'm looking to get myself a little jon boat or something which should help in being able to help me keep my sanity.
