This spot actually reminds me a lot of the little creek at Turner Falls, which is an excellent spot if you guys are ever in the area.

A few years ago, I absolutely annihilated those bass with a snoopy pole and a zara spook. True story. Those little snoopy rigs are actually pretty fun.

Honey creek is it's name. I have never been there when there was enough water to float, but I have waded it. Too many people at the falls now and access is limited.

Did they limit access above the falls?

I sure hope not. I really love that area.

On a related note, I talked to this guy about doing a guided trip to his private lake in Ardmore.

For 4 kayakers, it would be $100 per person for a full day, and he would accompany us in his little bass boat to show us the hot spots.

I was thinking about planning a trip to Turner Falls and booking a full day with him at the private lake. We could meet him in the morning, fish all day, then shoot over to Turner Falls and camp.

I'm sure if we planned it out far enough in advance we could get 4 people together.

I would be interested in hearing more.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

Shaun, you were already invited.

smile

Maybe we can plan something for this summer. I think it would be a blast. We could fish the private lake the first day, camp at Turner Falls that night, and wade fish Honey Creek the next morning with micro gear.

Then we drink beer and swim at the waterfall.

Perfect weekend.

No. You can hike up there. You would have to be very motivated to take your yak up there though. It would be suicide to run the big falls under any water conditions.

The springs are pretty close to the falls, and I don't know of any road access, as roads are very limited through that portion of the Arbuckles.

Falls Creek is also very beautiful, but it is privately owned, but no one seems to care what you do when church camp is not in session. Too small for a yak, but plenty of fish.

Both falls creek and honey creek are very very clear creeks.

OK. DP and I waded all the way up a few years ago. I say waded, more like swam with poles above our heads. Caught a lot of fish, and then learned Tejano style crawdad fishing.

You have peaked my interest. I want to know what Tejano style crawdad fishing is. I also want to go.

The only time I hiked above Turner Falls, was when the water was really low. No fishing though.

The concept is basically the same ole bacon on a line, wait until they grab it and pull. However our new amigos enjoyed throwing the crawdads at one poor guy holding a bucket. His head was on a swivel as he was bombarded with flying crawdads. And in broken English they asked us to join. I was never so proud of our lax immigration laws.
