I've always been a fan of Honda engines (ATV's, mowers, etc), so why is it so rare to see Honda outboards out there on the water?

I have wondered the same thing. I am guessing price You are guessing correct. They just cost too much to see more frequently.

They are heavy
not performance motors
expensive
but they are reliable, quiet, fuel efficient and designed well. I Have seen a few honda 4 strokes and they are good motors

I see they stop at 225HP too. Since most pros are running 250+, I guess that doesn't help. I guess if speed is not your concern and you plan to keep it a long time...they would be worth consideration...

I know some offshore guides that have them and would never have another. One of the most reliable outboards on the market.
