I had a great day fishing and bonding with my two young sons. Here is a little video of my 9 year old driving the old FX-21 on lake Whitney. Enjoy!

Cool....but be careful with the keys Dad. When I figured out I could drive my dads boat I got up real early one morning and went down to the boat and took it out!! I was about 10.

good job man! thats awesome! I cant wait until my son is old enough to drive while I ride  I remember my dad telling me to drive the boat when I was young. it was the highlight of the trip many times!

I put that on myself. You can buy them at Lowe's. They are made by Kobalt. Magnetic tool holder.

Good for your son. My wife refuses to drive my boat. We were at the far end of a lake one day and I tried to get her to drive. She refused. I asked her, "What's going to happen if we're way off somewhere like this one day and I have a heart attack?"
She said, "Well, I guess you're going to die because I'm not driving the boat."

That is cool! I let my 6 year old drive the boat a couple of times and he loved it. Just like Razorback said, I wanted him to know how to do it just in case something happened to me. When I let my 6 year old pick what lake he wants to fish he has a hard time deciding because on Lake Tyler he knows he gets to drive the boat in the no wake zone channel and then on Palestine he actually catches fish. When he gets tall enough to reach the hotfoot I'll have a guide! I'll put him driving and his brother on the TM and I'll just have to fish and remove hooks from my body LOL
