How long should it take a mechanic to get back to you about your boat. I dropped mine off one day shy of two weeks and haven't heard a thing from him. Anyone else experience this long of wait time with a boat mechanic??

yep,I had a really bad experience with one last year,13 weeks and it ran better when i took it to him, with one bad hole than it did after he rebuilt it!Finally had to take it to a real mechanic to get it all fixed! But the first scumbag got all my money, charged me for things he didn't do,and said there was no need for a lake test!!!So yeah it happens, not just you!Good luck with it though!

He fixed an old boat I had a couple years ago, took long then too. It did run good and my brother still has that boat now. Runs perfect. Should I just go get the keys and take somewhere else? Should I give him another week? I believe it just needs carb work, so why so long? I don't want to bother the guy, but come on, shouldn't he let me know whats up? I need an opinion on what to do here.

I just might do that, tried calling again today, must be closed on mondays. What is his turn around time, I m missing some fishing right now. This guy just won't return my calls. Friday his wife said he would call me back, she never did. I know he can fix it, why doesn't he just get it done. Im really frustrated, I figure I spend money there, they should have some customer service. Shouldn't they?

Im picking up the keys and boat tomorrow. I think atleast he should have let me know he was behind. I talked to him before dropping it off and he made is sound like he could get it done in a few days. He should have let me know he couldn't and I would have been ok with it. I just feel like Im getting the jerk around. thanks for the replies.

PS Just contacted Ronnie like mentioned above. I ll see what he has to say about my issue and take it over there if he has the time to look at it.

If the guy i took it to doesn't answer the phone for me tomorrow and give me an answer, I think I ll just go take out there to him. Even If I have to wait another two weeks, atleast Ill know it will get done right.
Thanks for the info. cd

I took my last bass boat; a Nitro I bought new, back to the dealer to get a chip repaired in the bottom of the hull that I got from backing over a T-post in some back water when it was about a year old. It stayed gone for almost 6 months. I made multiple phone calls and a few visits to the dealership and nothing, always hearing "it's not ready but we will have it soon". One day I got a mechanics lean notice in the mail from fiberglass repair shop on my boat and I called that shop immediately. I turns out that my boat had been ready the week after I took it to the dealership and someone had dropped the ball. I wasn't a happy camper. I am real peculiar about my rigs and always kept them in my garage, covered, washed, waxed, Armour All'd, everything ready to go in like new or better condition. It sat out in the weather for 6 months, even though it had a cover on it, that didn't sit well with me at all...That dealership is out of business now and I can understand why.

Sorry some of you are having problems. You do understand a lot of boat repair shops and dealers went out of business last year and I am farther behind than I have ever been, so I know other shops are too but if you ca`nt get ahold of the mechanic or shop, I would have allready went and picked up my boat.

I know some of the shops are backed up on their work for at 3-4 weeks this time of year. My mechanic almost always tells me it will be 3 weeks before he can look at it and then slides me in line early and I have it back within 2 weeks. I have never complained about him or his service. He has always treated me right, told me the truth about any repairs needed, and will help me on the phone any time I call. If any of you are in the south tx area I would highly reccomend Mac at Chris' Marine in Aransas pass. He does a lot of the FLW boats.
